The name Wacken likely comes from \u2018Wacke\u2019, meaning cobblestone in the local dialect, since the district is located on the site of ancient Rhine riverbeds that carried pebbles, gravel, and stones for millennia.<\/p>\n<p>Home to the European Institutions, the headquarters of the Grand Est Region, and Strasbourg\u2019s major event facilities, the Wacken district began a profound transformation in 2018 that continues to shape its new identity.<\/p>\n<p>Like two flagship vessels, the headquarters of Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel and Puma stand majestically as the new landmarks on either side of the Archipel district.
