Supported by a network of partners committed to sustainability, Colmar is a leading destination in Alsace for hosting eco-conscious business events, seminars, conventions, and team building.

An environmentally responsible region and certified hotels

Alsace boasts rich natural heritage and is firmly committed to preserving it. Numerous local partners in and around Colmar have adopted a sustainable development approach. This is particularly true of hotels awarded the Green Key label, a leading certification for accommodations and restaurants with environmentally responsible practices.

In Colmar and nearby – Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr – 16 hotels hold this prestigious Green Key, including L’Esquisse Hotel & Spa, Mercure Colmar Centre Unterlinden Hotel, Ibis Styles Colmar Nord, and Greet Hotel Colmar. These establishments also offer seminar facilities, making them ideal for meetings and training sessions.

These hotels stand out through a range of criteria assessed by an independent jury when awarding the label: a clearly defined environmental policy, guest awareness initiatives, responsible management of energy, water and waste, sustainable purchasing practices, and a setting respectful of biodiversity.

Responsible experiences

Colmar is easily accessible by train and pleasant to explore on foot or by bike. An authentic and welcoming town, Colmar provides the perfect setting for eco-friendly experiences.

The Colmar Convention Bureau designs tailor-made business events with sustainability in mind, in partnership with ISO 20121 certified service providers. This internationally recognised standard for sustainable event management helps organisations incorporate environmental responsibility into event planning.

In Colmar, two major venues have this certification since January 2026: Espace Auguste and the Colmar Convention and Exhibition Centre. This recognition is a real asset for hosting professional events, underlining the sustainability commitments of both venues.

In 2025, they hosted numerous events:

  • Espace Auguste: 8,486 visitors and 103 events, 66% were general assemblies, conferences, congresses, meetings, and seminars.
  • Colmar Convention and Exhibition Centre: 705,576 visitors, 146 events, 27% were general assemblies, seminars, and congresses.
